The Mando Matsuri festival, passed down in Komine-machi and Hoyu-machi Kamimuro, is a bon event where children fling a straw torch called "Mando" and walk around the hill near the burial ground.
The children collect firewood before the festival. On the day of the festival they make a torch by bundling 2-10 bunches of straw together and binding them to a bamboo stick. Then, after lighting it with the bonfire in the middle, they fling the torch, shouting, "Come demon, come hunger!" and throw it to the lower ground.
With this festival, people pray for the ancestors souls and for the ridding of epidemics.
