The Niino Matsuri festival, an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Okayama Prefecture, is a grand festival that has been handed down since the Muromachi period (1336-1573). Placing Hachimangu Shrine in Niinoyamagata as the Parent God, parishioners of Futamatsu, Amahohi, Amatsu, and Temman Shrines carry seven mikoshi or portable shrines and get together at the jinjiba (the ritual site) in Inazukano and celebrate the autumn for a good harvest.
This film is created with the purpose of handing down this valuable festival to posterity and records the events related to the festival, such as honozumo (ceremonial sumo match), shishineri (lion dance) and Urayasuno Mai dance, throughout the year.
