Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture, is one of the greatest fishing towns. Hane daiko or Hanekomi daiko, or jumping drumming, is dynamic spectacular drumming very much characteristic for the fishing town. It is noted for its particularly physical style of performance in that two performers make a pair, with each performer supporting the drum by the neck and torso, and beating the drum while jumping into the air as they play the drum and rotate while airborne.

This video film record projects images of the powerful performance and practice scenes of very unique festival drumming, scenes of local festivals including Oshio Matsuri or Big Tide Festival, how the Choshi Tairyo Bushi or Choshi fishermens feasting song was composed, and others with beautiful scenery of Choshi interwoven.
