This film records the Tokatsu Inba Daishiko ceremony which took place in May, 2004. It depicts the process of the ceremony and highlights the Kechigan ceremony, the biggest special feature and most lively event of the ceremony. It has been said that this ko (Buddhist event) was established in 1822, at the end of the Edo period. The ceremony takes the form of visiting 88 fudasho temples where amulets are collected, imitating the Reijo Pilgrimage on the island of Shikoku. The pilgrimage is carried out every year from May 1 to 5, and sutras such as Hannyashingyo and Daishihogo are chanted in unison by the participants at each fudasho temple. Kechigan means the completion of the pilgrimage to all the fudasho and the return to the first fudasho on the last day. The last day a chigo-gyoretsu (childrens parade) joins in and the Nerikomi parade is performed to the Kechigan site in a glorious style worthy of the finale to the event.
